Foundations and Group Legacy
Siimoodi Minerals operates as part of the Siimoodi Group, a family-oriented enterprise with decades of experience in gemstones, jewelry wholesale, and precious metals trading. This strong commercial foundation, built across East Africa and Dubai, provided the technical knowledge & market insight.
Entry into Mineral Exploration
Building on its precious metals background, the Group expanded into mineral exploration with a focus on copper and gold in Somaliland. Early efforts concentrated on identifying prospective regions & understanding geological settings.
Project Development and Licensing
Exploration activities progressed into structured project development with the acquisition and advancement of key copper concessions, including Ali-Haydh and Fadhi-Hun. Work during this phase emphasized community relations field programs.
Transition to Trial Production
Siimoodi Minerals moved beyond exploration by initiating controlled trial mining and processing activities. Approximately 2,000 tons of copper ore were extracted and processed, providing valuable operational data and practical experience to support future production planning.
Expansion into Gold Mining
Through Siimoodi Gold Mining Company, the Group established gold mining operations in the Awdal Region. These activities draw on long-standing precious metals expertise, with a strong emphasis on responsible & operations, secure handling, quality control.
